一、什么是复杂句

复杂句(Complex Sentence)某个句子成分直接由从属分句表示,那么这种句子便不是简单句而是复杂句。

复杂句的构成是主句+从句。

主句:句子是主体,表达自己想表达的主要意思,是可以独立成句的。

从句:句子的从属成分,是不可以独立成句的。

举例而言:

He is an excellent student who can solve many difficult problems.

这句话包含两个简单句:He is an excellent student.He can solve many difficult problems.

主句是:He is an excellent student.是完整的句子。

从句是who can solve many difficult problems.不能独立成句,缺少了he。

复杂句的引导词

引导词通常是从句的标记,常见的引导词有that,who,what,which,when,where等。

像上个例子He is an excellent student who can solve many difficult problems.的引导词就是who。

复杂句的分类一:定语从句

定语从句,就是用来修饰某件事,某物,或者某人。

例如:

The girl who often helps me is my best friend.

这句话就是修饰这个女孩,你看,去掉从句内容,就是The girl is my best friend.这个女孩是我最好的朋友,什么样的女孩呢?用定语,经常帮助我的女孩。

复杂句的分类二:状语从句

状语从句,也就是从句做状语成分。

举例:

When you are hungry in the morning,you should have breakfast.

你早上饿了的话,你应该去吃早饭。

复杂句的分类三:名词性从句

从句充当名词。包含主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句。

比如:

What he wants to tell me is not clear.

他想和我说什么还不清楚。

二、复杂的定语从句例子

1.连接两个具有共同名词的句子

【例】I have three books of which the red is my favorite.

【解析】这是一个很简单的句子,定语从句由of which引导,但是这个句子并不是在修饰和限定前面的单词books,这个句子其实是由两个句子合并而成的:

1)I have three books.

2)The red of those books is my favorite.

这两个句子中有共同的名词books,这样就可以合写成一个句子,此时就用到了定语从句的第二个作用:连接两个具有共同名词的句子。把第二个句子中的those books替换成能连接两个句子的关系代词which,这样就能产生了如下这个句子:I have three books,the red of which is my favorite.为了让整个句子更加紧凑就把of which提到books后面,进而形成了刚才的.那个句子。

2.表示因果逻辑关系

【例】America and Americans were prosperous beyond the dreams of the Europeans and Asians whose economies the war had destroyed.

【解析】这句话中有一个定语从句是由whose来引导的,在翻译的时候也有两种处理方法:

1)美国和美国人的繁荣程度超越了欧洲和亚洲人的梦想,他们的经济被战争摧毁了。

2)美国和美国人的繁荣程度超越了欧洲和亚洲人的梦想,因为他们的经济被战争摧毁了。

而后面就有对应这个句子的考题:The U.S. achieved its predominance after World War II because.

答案:the war had destroyed the economies of most potential competitions.

题干对应刚才句子的主句America and Americans were prosperous beyond the dreams of the Europeans and Asians,在表述上进行了同义替换,而正确选项就是对应whose所引导的定语从句。

定语从句的作用

三、什么是简单复杂句

1、简单句构成:主语+谓语+……简单句不是看长短来划分,而是看结构,大部分句子都是简单句,虽然有的灰常长。

2、简单句只有一个主语,一个谓语,这两者是关键其他成分暂不考虑。比如:I clean. I clean my house. I want to clean my old house thoroughly to make it smell better at this weekend.最后一个句子虽然看似复杂却仍然是简单句,因为结构简单,一个主语I,一个谓语want另外要注意的是,动词有宾语和没有宾语时意思会有很大不同,第一句话I clean既可以理解为我做清洁,也可以理解为我杀人(清理人),这就要看语境的不同了,所以一句话的动词后要尽量讲清楚具体动作的对象,否则很容易产生歧义。

3、特殊情况,有时一个简单句也可以有好几个动词作谓语,多用来表示一连串的动作比如:He sat there, stood up, walked up and down, and then made the decision.这一连串的平行结构中,最后两个要用and连接起来还比如:It looks delicate, elegant and wonderful. I like apples, bananas, oranges and grapes..

4、复杂句构成:当一个简单句里嵌套了从句时,就变成了复杂句,从句可以是宾语从句,定语从句,状语从句等等。比如:My parents told me that i should be a good girl.(宾语从句) This is what i want to say.(表语从句) Looking into his eyes, she could not help bursting into tears.(状语从句) A friend is the person who you can trust.(定语从句)从句其实就是当一个词说不清楚或没有一个合适的词表达时编出来救场的一组词。在功能上完全可以和单个词对等,所以在分析一个句子的主干结构时,通常将从句作为一个整体。比如:最后一个例子的主干就是a friend is the person.不过要说明是怎样的person,所以增加一个定语从句来进行补充。这句话也可以写成:a friend is a trustworthy person.此时,trustworthy就代替了who you can trust,作为person的定语,其实二者的功能相同。只不过单个词比较简短,所以放在名词前,也符合人们的语言习惯,而句子如果也放在名词前就会显得句子结构头重脚轻不平衡。

复合句

复合句(Complex Sentence)由一个主句(Principal Clause)和一个或一个以上的从句(Subordinate Clause)构成。

主句是全句的主体,通常可以独立存在;从句则是一个句子成分,不能独立存在。

从句不能单独成句,但它也有主语部分和谓语部分,就像一个句子一样。所不同在于,从句须由一个关联词(connective)引导。

宾语从句的语法意义及结构

语法意义:宾语从句在复合句中作主句的宾语。宾语从句通常由连词(that, whether, if)、连接代词(which, what, who, whose, whom)或连接副词(where, how, when, why)等引导。及物动词、介词或某些系表结构后可带宾语从句。

句型结构:主语+谓语+引导词+主语+谓语(+其他成分)

连词有:so… that, such… that

(1) so...that"如此……以致",that在非正式文体中可以省略,so后面接形容词或副词。如:
